Sorry for the long silence from my blog, I have been quite busy recently with work, horse riding, catching up with people and just had lost some of my energy. Today is a throw back blog post as nothing new has been made up for the last few weeks, but I hope you still enjoy. This art work is a hand dyed, screen printed and hand beaded outfit made inspired by nature and looking into military outfits. I made this in my second year at University when I was exploring different ideas, styles of design and techniques. It is not my favorite piece I have ever made, the silk fabric and beading feel fantastic to hold. However, I was making this whilst also having to grieve for my Nana's death and I feel that I let the attention to detail making up the actual dress slip. However I love the concept and enjoy the level of detail I was able to produce through the prints and hand beading.
I will make sure to catch up with you all properly soon :-) !
Good Evening Everyone! I hope you have all had a great weekend and a relaxing Sunday. I have been busy in the studio today. after finally finding my sewing machine kit to change a broken needle. I promise now to organise my studio this week before I start to loose everything else. So you may remember my butterfly pen drawings a few weeks ago which are part of my current project. I have started to experiment and develop these into beautiful thread drawings using free hand embroidery. There is plenty of work to be done still, but I am really enjoying the texture and contrast of these butterflies so far.
Would love some feedback at this point in the project. I am going to be working on some different techniques tomorrow using one of my favorites (felt making of course) and maybe some quilting. Excited to create!
Enjoy your Sunday and I will hopefully be updating in the next few days
