So today is throw back Thursday ! I decided today to share some of my photos from Andrew Logan's festival (2012/13). I have been lucky to be involved with a few of Andrew's events; And his trust in me working for him delivering workshops in local primary schools started me into my career as an Art Teacher. His events are truly magical, and are full of fun, glitter, colour, mosaics, dancing, crazy running around the gallery trying to do cartwheels madness. He uses a range of models in his catwalks, and I consider myself lucky to have worn his incredible jewellery on it myself. His artwork shows iconic images of celebrities, cultural symbols and images from ancient mythology. He creates these mainly using his intricate style of mosaic and mixed media pieces playing with scale, reflection (and glitter!) to create memorizing pieces. His work on Alternative Miss World questions gender stereotypes and reinforces that beauty is not just as media reports. It is really an incredible show, which is like nothing you have seen before. The costumes and personalities involved make it a unique beauty contest. His vision of the World not only makes his art work incredible, but also helps you to see the World in his own magical way (even if just for a few days). On the photos are pictures of his work, photos from the catwalk and some from evening events (Including me and the amazing Patricia Quinn from The Rocky Horror Picture Show), Andrew Logan, Diane Logan (An amazing designer and milliner). And finally some flags and banners created in one of my workshops where I worked with 4 and 5 year olds in Berriew Primary School.
This is one of my favorite artists because he really goes all out for the local community! I must go back again and have a nose at the gallery soon!
